Introduction to home surveilance

Hi,

It's no secret that the crime rate has spiraled out of control in Trinidad and Tobago and protecting out life and property is of paramount importance. I for one have used technology to my advantage by giving me peace of mind at the very least. My car has a GPS , my house has an alarm and a CCTV system all of which can be controlled from my smart phone.

This blog mainly deals with CCTV systems as there are many options available locally due to the tax concessions given by the Trinidad and Tobago Government (will discuss tax concessions in greater detail later) for the importation of CCTV systems. The local newspapers and social medial are littered with CCTV offers.

I have even seen  do it yourself (DIY) systems being sold at supermarkets for as little as $2400.00TT !

As someone new to the world of home surveillance how do you make the right choice? I have been down that road and with over 7 CCTV installations using 5 different makes  I'm happy to share with you my experiences both (good and bad).

The purpose of this blog is to help first time CCTV users make the right decision in selecting a solution. We will explore the various options available both locally and internationally.  This is by no means a technical forum, but discussions on technical problems  that first time CCTV users are may experienced are welcomed in layman terms.
